Diesel engines test bench

Project Prerequisites:

Frequent errors in the operation of the bench. Need for automation system upgrade.

Goal of the Project:

Development and implementation of process control system for test bench.

Description of the Project:

A diesel engine should pass tests on the bench after an overhaul. Tests are carried out according to the program depending on the engine type, which includes operation of the engine at different speeds and with different load for predetermined periods of time. The bench provides fuel supply with the measurement of its quantity, supply of coolant with the measurement of its temperature, withdrawal of exhaust gases, and creation of a controlled load on the engine shaft. Signals from the sensors measuring the temperature and pressure are sent to the instrumentation.

Specialists of ASU-Techno diagnosed the automation system that controls the operation of the bench in general. The identified faults were eliminated and, as a result of the work carried out, the final configuration of automation was performed.

Results of the Project:

• A multifunctional modern automated control system for test bench was created;

• The performance of the bench was tested under all operating conditions;

• The software controls the bench in manual and automatic modes;

• Automatic mode allows to perform the necessary technological operations without operator intervention;

• All necessary archives of accidents, events and actions of the personnel are logged in the controller equipment.
